Shrub Appeal
Simple and Functional Pathway
This client wanted to clean up her foundation beds and create a walkway to the backyard. The client walked their dog to the backyard multiple times a day using the path between the house and the shed. The pathway needed to be robust enough for regular traffic. We also didn't want the pathway to get slippery in wet weather so we opted for concrete pavers instead of flagstones.
We often see gutter downspouts let out directly into the garden beds. This is problematic for many reasons, but especially because you don't want water around the foundations of your home. Local code actually requires downspouts to let out 3 ft away from the house.
We often re-run downspouts for the health of the foundations and the plants (too much water can rot out roots). One way we can do this is by hiding downspout extensions under mulch. We custom cut spaces in the edging so the downspouts let out outside of the garden beds.
The team did a great job pulling these weed trees! Those taproots won't be growing back.
