Our favorite solution.  Requires the least amount of effort.  A natural approach.

Clear Deer Fence

A clear deer fence relies on a simple concept that has been used for many generations.  Clear line is strung through fence posts to create a "sensory fence".  In the right context, deer typically don't bother messing with the fence and simply move onto an easier meal.  

Shrub Appeal has advanced this concept by providing clear acrylic fence posts.  These posts blend into the background without detracting from your curb appeal.  Passers by will not notice the fence but they'll surely be admiring your lush flowers and shrubs.  We like this solution because it shows results, looks good, the gardens remain enjoyable for people, and it's easy to set up and maintain. 

The Clear Deer Fence works best when: 

• Used in an area close to a building with straight garden lines

• Used for ornamental flowers and shrubs (veggies are too tempting!)

• Used in a neighborhood setting where deer don't stay in one yard for long

Sensory Deterrents

Permanent landscape fixtures that surprise, scare, or simply annoy deer.  We don't like to rely on these because deer may adjust to and ignore their presence over time. 

Organic Sprays/Powders

Our least favorite approach because it requires regular reapplication of product, which is high maintenance. 
However, this can be useful if your deer are easily dissuaded and are not regular visitors.
